Welcome to Healthcare iPod blog

This blog is intended to be a clearinghouse for news and reviews of medical, nursing, and other healthcare-related software designed to run in the iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPhone SDK has been recently released so software won't be available until late June 2008. ePocrates has already demonstrated a drug guide and pill identifier (a video of the drug guide application on an iPhone is now available). I am sure more will come quickly.

The new iPod Touch and iPhone software development kit means that handheld computer applications that have been lagging in development for the Palm and Windows Mobile platforms have a chance at new life, and new profits for developers. There are thousands of nurses and physicians who have a need for medical and other healthcare-related clinical software.

In the early days of the Palm operating system there were physicians who learned programming and released free or inexpensive clinical software. These programs revolutionized healthcare by making computing tools that could fit in your hand.

It is now time for the next revolution in Healthcare-related handheld computing, and Apple's iPod Touch and iPhone are the tools to start that revolution.
